Medical devices have an important position in the pharmaceutical industry, not only the market scale is huge, in 2018 it has exceeded 500 billion yuan, but also the growth rate is fast, the data of the ‘China Medical Device Industry Development Report’ shows that the annual growth rate of the medical device industry has been higher than the average in the eight sub-industries of the pharmaceutical industry in the statistics of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in the period of 2013-2016. With the development of China's medical and health care, the medical device industry still has a very large space for development.

However, the same as the analytical instrument industry, the medical device industry is also facing the problem that although the domestic market is huge, the high-end market has long been monopolised by imported products. In the country vigorously promote scientific and technological innovation, and strive to solve the key core technology is ‘neck’ of the risk of background, medical equipment as the same constraints of the industry, but also need to actively take measures to develop domestic technology with independent intellectual property rights.

At this year's two sessions, two deputies to the National People's Congress put forward proposals for the development of medical devices.
